It's More Than Just a Name

The question that many people have been asking is “What does ‘241 ink’ mean?” Well, here’s the answer. A 100 years ago or so, back in my high school days, my good friend, Dan and I dreamed of a camp that taught Christian leadership. This was a need that we saw even back then with the number of church leaders we encountered across the country that had book-smarts, but lacked the ability to run a church or organization that we were part of. We thought it would be cool to take kids our age into the wilderness and teach them how to work together as a team for a common goal. We wanted to teach leadership to young Christians before they got to the leadership positions they would have someday.  As this dream expanded, it needed a name and 241 ink was born. It is more of a concept than a name really. At first it simply meant 2 young men living and serving a life 4 - 1 God in a way that we could leave God’s mark on the world. As we went to college to achieve this dream, our insight grew and we came to the realization that to achieve our dream, we needed to live life first and down the road come back together to see this dream become a reality. Through this journey God has taught us countless lessons. Now this concept has grown to include people, organizations, companies and ministries that work together serving our 1 God.

So many times, we serve God on our own by trying to reinvent the wheel, when what we need to do is partner with someone else who is trying to meet the same needs who can complement our strengths and weaknesses. It just really boils down to Paul’s description of the body working together. First Corinthians 12: 14-20, “ 14Now the body is not made up of one part but of many. 15If the foot should say, "Because I am not a hand, I do not belong to the body," it would not for that reason cease to be part of the body. 16And if the ear should say, "Because I am not an eye, I do not belong to the body," it would not for that reason cease to be part of the body. 17If the whole body were an eye, where would the sense of hearing be? If the whole body were an ear, where would the sense of smell be?18But in fact God has arranged the parts in the body, every one of them, just as he wanted them to be. 19If they were all one part, where would the body be? 20As it is, there are many parts, but one body.” The “eye” (you) cannot say to the hands (other Christians) “I do not need you”. We need to work together as a team in Christianity to make a difference.  For nearly 20 years, we have seen thousands of people begin a relationship with Jesus Christ around the world through the work God has done through 241 ink-the concept.

So, in a nutshell, that’s what “241 ink” means. It’s more than just a name, it’s a lifestyle.
